Level 1 PC Technician

Responsible for setup, repair, and installation of software and hardware. Diagnosing both basic and complex IT problems in a corporate network and residential environment by performing the following duties and responsibilities;
 
  • Conduct customer requests via telephone or in-person, to document and solve their needs and communicate these requests via ticketing system on what time is needed, what the request is, how the request was resolved, and other resources or services that should be allocated.
  • Resolve customer problems and complaints in a professional and timely manner and notify manager of all discussions when appropriate.
  • Ensure customer files are kept confidential & maintained in an organized, accurate manner.
  • Complete assigned tickets thoroughly and efficiently.
  • Keep schedules to support smooth appointment flow and report back to manager as needed.
  • Purchase computer peripherals with approval as needed.
  • Inventory all hardware assets in inventory system.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of an effective organization through the selection, training, and motivation of yourself and other technicians by attending training and business development meetings. (This includes keeping and obtaining certifications to increase your knowledge of computers and networks)
  • Travel between office and customer sites whether residential, small business, or corporate.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
 
Required Experience
 
  • Supporting, troubleshooting, repairing, upgrading and installing Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, and 10 desktop/laptop computers
  • Troubleshooting hardware issues and replacing hardware on both desktop and laptop computers (with driver installation) - CD/DVD drives, hard drive, RAM
  • Installing software, patches, and updates on desktops and laptops
  • Troubleshooting basic network, software, hardware and printing issues
  • Peripheral installation (scanners, printers, cameras, etc)
  • Data migration - e.g. QuickBooks, some email clients, specialized industry software
  • Supporting end users via remote sessions (LogMeIn) and on-site at corporate offices, small businesses and residential environments.
  • Basic optimizations
  • Data recovery
  • Basic Network knowledge (routers, switches, TCP/IP, etc) - can troubleshoot most SoHo issues, good understanding of P2P networks
  • Extensive knowledge of computers and various programs such as Microsoft Office; Internet Explorer & other popular programs in the installation of these.
 
Desired
 
  • Basic Server knowledge - Active Directory, network shares, DNS, DHCP, Print and File servers, etc
  • IT Certifications such as A+, Network+, etc…
  • Available on weekends and nights when needed.
  • Customer service experience is preferable.
