Network/Systems Support Engineer

Our client is experiencing significant growth resulting in rapid expansion of the underlying network infrastructure to support that growth.  We require up to five support engineers that will work to provide a wide range of support services across several different engineering functional groups on a demand based need.  Will work to support the technical leads in Cloud Onboarding group, Red Hat Engineering, and NOC/SOC support group.
 
Responsibilities
 
  • Responsible for installing, monitoring, operating, managing, troubleshooting and restoring service to communications networks in a large telecommunications facility environment (includes data/voice communications equipment, multiplexers, data terminal equipment, commercial leases and transmission media).
  • Responsible for performing pro-active monitoring of network elements alarms and alerts to identify those components/elements that may lead to or already are causing network degradation or failure. 
  • Manages systems/network performance and maintains network security. 
  • Ensures that security procedures are implemented and enforced. 
  • Installs all network software. 
  • Evaluates, develops and maintains network and application systems. 
  • Troubleshoots network problems. 
  • Establishes and implements network policies, procedures and standards and ensures their conformance with customer information systems objectives. 
  • Trains users on network operation.
 
Desired Education/Experience
 
  • 5+ years of experience in the telecommunications environment utilizing data/voice communications equipment; routers, switches, hubs, multiplexers, data terminal equipment, commercial leases, transmission media, and network monitoring.
  • 3+ years of experience configuring and maintaining systems based on Windows Server, Red Hat and or UNIX operating systems.
  • Experience with commercial Cloud technology, migration and maintenance.
  • Experience with CEPH storage technologies.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (VMWare, Citrix, Hyper-V etc.)
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science or equivalent experience.
  • Certification in Microsoft, Red Hat and/or Cisco technologies (MCSA, MCSE, MCSD, RHCSA, RHCE, CCNA, CCNP, etc.).
